Laura Guidry-Grimes, PhD, HEC-C Assistant Professor of Medical Humanities and Bioethics Clinical Ethicist
I joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas in July 2017. In addition to teaching healthcare professionals in their medical school, I also serve as a clinical ethicist for UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. From 2015-2017, I worked full-time as a clinical ethicist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. I first got my feet wet teaching bioethics during my time as a graduate student at Georgetown University, where the Philosophy Department was generous enough to give us the freedom to design and run courses from scratch. These professional opportunities have presented me with distinctive teaching challenges that have all been rewarding in their own way.
Although this website is meant to serve as a personal teaching repository of sorts, I also welcome feedback and experiences from anyone who happens to stumble upon it. I’m eager to learn about new pedagogical techniques as I develop courses and clinical curricula.
